Ale Kino! programmers visited Berlinale!
Here is what they said about the current trends in young audience films they had watched there:
“It is sometimes said that one of the problems of present-day feature movies is a shortage of full-blooded interesting female characters. Watching this year’s Generation section we found out that this shortage is being tackled by film productions aimed at the young. We had a chance to watch a number of splendid movies about young and adolescent girls or about young women which we would love to show to the Ale Kino! selection committee.
During our work at the European Film Market we noticed that the year 2016 will see plenty of sports films premieres. It’s great news, as we are planning to launch a new festival section: Ale Kino! Sports Zone. The films we are planning to bring to Poznań are not only about football, but also, among other things, about volleyball, horse-riding, quad racing, and cheerleading."
Our short film programmers are looking forward to a few premieres: a 15-minute long animation based on the popular "Simon's Cat" series, a new production of the Folimage studio titled "Le Renard Minuscule" and "The Boyfriend Game", a directorial debut by young actress Alice Englert, who appeared for example in “Beautiful Creatures”.
For us, the Berlin festival is not only a celebration of film, but also the most important European meeting place for all the people who are involved in the development and promotion of young audience films. For many years now, Berlinale has been hosting an annual meeting of ECFA (European Children's Film Association), of which Ale Kino! is a member. We exchange experiences, create new projects and have a great time with people we share our passion with and have been friends with for many years."
