Shooting for Socrates
They come from Senegal, Ireland, Brazil, Morocco, China. They are between 11 and 15 and have just arrived in France. For a year they will be attending the same adaptation class in one of the Parisian schools. 24 students, 24 different nationalities and two common goals: to master the French language and find their place in the local reality. They came to France with their families, which they are often responsible for as the only ones speaking the language. Although faced with problems resulting from the integration processes, such as racism and xenophobia, they look into the future with hope and courage.

A director, who gained experience working, among others, with Krzysztof Kieślowski. She began her independent career in 1993. At the beginning she worked for television; later she took up feature film. Her film ‘Since Otar Left’ won the Grand Prix in the Critics’ Week section at Cannes 2003 and was honoured with a César.
