Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
Czechoslovakia, 1980s. A young and talented sprinter Anna is selected for the national team and starts training to qualify for the Olympic Games. Drug-taking is considered a normal practice in the process of preparation and Anna unconsciously starts to take anabolic steroids. Her performance improves, but when she learns the truth, she decides to continue training without the steroids. Her mother is worried that she might not qualify for the Olympics, which she sees as the only chance for her daughter to escape from behind the Iron Curtain.

Film and television director, screenwriter, and editor. She studied screenwriting at Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU), as well as editing and direction at La Fémis in Paris. She has made documentaries and TV films for Czech Television. During her time in France she has been engaged mainly as an editor: her editing work on ‘Welcome’ was nominated for a César.
